To prevent data loss due to hardware component failure, our storage systems have a unique combination of protective measures. Each of our storage media always contains 12 data carriers. Redundancy means that up to four can fail simultaneously without losing data. We also install data carriers from three different batches or – where possible – three different models. This way we prevent correlated failures due to serial errors.
All systems are designed for geo-redundancy. By replicating the data to a second location, it can still be recovered even if one location fails completely, such as due to a disaster or theft.

Unlike standard IT, secondary storage systems are long-term investments. Regularly migrating the vast amounts of data generated by backup & archiving takes a disproportionate amount of time and money. Moreover, each data migration increases the risk of data loss and violation of legal requirements.
Our storage systems are designed to last 10 years or more. A long-term maintenance contract accompanies the systems throughout their lifetime and covers much more than just the replacement of individual components. We see it as our responsibility to ensure that maintenance work is not completed until you have full access to all your data again.
We attach great importance to the long-term compatibility of storage media across generations. The separation of storage media and server components allows us to keep up with the latest developments.
